Fear verses Faith

Fear is a liar. Satan is the Father of fear. It is an emotion caused by a belief that someone or something is likely to cause us pain. It can change our heart rate, breathing, and behavior.  It can cause us to run for our life, or freeze, paralyzed. Fear is related to anxiety which is the result of a perceived and unavoidable event. Anxiety is characterized by excessive apprehension which can lead to a panic attack. Fear and anxiety today are at an all time high. I believe that chemicals in our food and water are causing more of us to suffer from this anxiety. I really do not have any answers for this. If the doctor prescribes you medication, you should take it according to the instructions on the bottle. Anxiety can be controlled through medication.

Fear of the unknown has caused many of us anxiety. But what about fear of the known? Imagine how Jesus felt being fully man and fully God. The Man experienced all the emotions of fear and anxiety, more than any other man who ever lived. Yet the God side is all – knowing and reveals to Him every detail of His beating and crucifixion. No wonder He was sweating blood in preparation of His arrest. We may never know the price Jesus paid for us on that cross, but I can assure you it was an anxiety we will never experience because He took it on for us. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Luke 22:44 NKJV

The greatest obstacle most of us will have to overcome is the passing over of our souls to heaven. The fear of death is overcome by faith. We grow in faith through the Word of God. If our anxiety levels are growing as we age it is a sign we need to spend more time with our heavenly Father. It is not enough just to read the Bible, we need to consume it. It needs to fill our very being so there is nothing left behind. This can be accomplished by daily Bible study and prayer. We can also be rewarded by service to others. We need to break with our routines and strive to acquire more knowledge of the Lord. The more we consume God’s Word, the more we grow in faith, and the more confidence we gain through Christ Jesus. Faith is confidence in our belief that in the end God will make all things right. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” Romans 8:15  I sought the Lord, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4 NKJV

We are eternal beings. Our soul and spirit never die. But because of Adam’s sin our bodies grow weary and fade away like all living things on earth. When we accepted Christ as our Savior we were reborn of incorruptible seed through the Word of God which lives and abides forever. All flesh is like grass, and man’s glory is as the flowers, or the grass. The grass withers, and flowers fade away, but the Word of the Lord endures forever. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 1 John 4:18 NKJV When we fear we are casting doubt on our faith, we lose confidence in Christ, and we are essentially telling Him we do not love Him. When this happens we have glitches in our armor. We are told to stand firm in our faith and put on the whole armor of God. See Ephesians 6:10-20.

Anxiety causes depression, but the Word of God makes us glad. God loves us without measure. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows the number of hairs on our head, and every little nuance of our being. So do not worry about your life. Put your trust in God. He put us here and He will deliver us from the bondage of fear. Look at the birds and the animals that roam the earth. They do not plant or harvest because our heavenly Father feeds them. We are far more valuable to God than these. Therefore, we should spend our time seeking the riches our Father bestowed on us in His Word. We shouldn’t worry about what tomorrow may bring. Let tomorrow worry about itself because today brings its own troubles. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, To turn one away from the snares of death. Proverbs 14:27 NKJV  We should remain confident until our death, because we are promised the crown of eternal life.

Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.  For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the us. Hebrews 2:14-16 NKJV  The curse of sin has already been defeated. The price has been paid so we should live our life as an example for others to follow the confidence in faith we have in Christ. Yeah though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I will fear no evil because God is with me. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. John 14:27 NKJV

  1. You managed to put me on another gilt trip today(smile). It is true, when you are fearful we are, in effect, telling Jesus we do not love Him. I am going to try and remember that!
    great job, blessings
